New BrainTalks Team

We’re happy to announce new team members!

Dr. Anthony Bailey has joined us to lend his experience in organizing talks and groups to the design and execution of the next series of BrainTalks@UBC. Dr. Bailey’s research investigates areas of genetics, neuropathology, and neuroanatomy as these relate to behaviour.

Trent McConaghy brings his diverse experience in the area of electrical engineering, systems design, and invention, to BrainTalks@UBC. Having authoured a book, 30 journal papers, and contributed to other publications, he also has approximately 20 patents granted / pending.

Kristina Gicas has a keen interest in multi-disciplinary approaches to research, specifically in the areas of neuroimaging, neurocognitive assessment, and rehabilitation. She is a second year Masters student in the SFU Neuropsychology Program.

Cassie McRae focuses on magnetic-resonance neuroimaging, parsing apart structural differences in the brains of those suffering with psychosis or drug addictions. She is currently in the first year of her Masters at UBC in Neuroscience, and working under Dr. Donna Lang.

Willough Jenkins is currently in her third year of the MD PhD Program at UBC Psychiatry. She is studying social networks in the Downtown Eastside. She is interested in psychopharmacology and where medicine meets psychiatry.

We’re currently spending most of our time planning the new series, so haven’t been writing brief articles for the website, but stay tuned! We look forward to bringing you more interesting brain news soon.
